Peppers no longer wants a long-term contract with Carolina, saying the Panthers have ignored him this offseason. In an interview aired Tuesday morning on Charlotte radio station WFNZ-AM, the five-time Pro Bowl defensive end indicated he's irritated by the team's ``silence'' and has changed his stance on whether he wants to continue his career in Carolina.
Analysis: While agent Carl Carey said last week he believes the Panthers aren't interested in retaining Peppers, Carolina's career sacks leader, team officials haven't announced their plans for the impending free agent. General manager Marty Hurney didn't immediately return a phone message Tuesday. ``How can you say you want to be somewhere when you're not really sure if they want you there because they're not even talking to you?'' Peppers said. |

Herb Taylor, T (NYG) |
The Giants have have been awarded Taylor off waivers from Denver.
Analysis: Taylor was originally a sixth-round draft choice by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007. In two seasons with the Chiefs, Taylor played in 18 games with one start. Although he has primarily played left tackle in this career, has also filled in at the guard and tackle spots on the right side. Taylor was waived by Kansas City on Sept. 4 and signed by Denver on Dec. 9. He was on the active roster for one game but did not play. |

Brunell earned his first Super Bowl title when the Saints won 31-17 over the Colts on Sunday.
Analysis: The 17-year veteran is an impending free agent. He twice lost in AFC title games with Jacksonville, and may have capped off an underrated career by going out on top as Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees' backup. |

Analysis: Indianapolis is a 7-1 favorite to take home the NFL championship, followed by the Chargers (8-1), Saints (9-1) and the Patriots (10-1). |

Brees turned to his wife when he woke up and asked: "Did yesterday really happen?" The Saints and their fans awoke Monday to the realization that the once lovable losers from New Orleans were Super Bowl champions for the first time in the club's 43-year history after Sunday's 31-17 triumph over the Indianapolis Colts.
Analysis: Brees earned MVP honors, and talked about the game at Monday morning's news conference at the convention center in Fort Lauderdale. "I'm not sure if it's completely sunk in yet," Brees said. "It seems like as the minutes go by, it slowly does.Our victory last night was the culmination of four years of hard work, fighting through a lot of adversity, ups and downs and more importantly than that, representing a city that has been through so much." |

Porter picked off a pass by Peyton Manning and ran it back 74 yards for the clinching score in a 31-17 win over the Colts in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Analysis: The Indiana University product broke the hearts of fans in the state where he went to college by coming up with the lone turnover of the Super Bowl. "We weren't the Aints," Porter said. "We were a team of destiny, a team that can make big plays." |

A year ago, Holmes got his hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Watching someone else take a turn with the NFL's shiny silver chalice this season is a difficult reality for the Pittsburgh Steelers' standout wide receiver. "I kind of wish both teams would lose so that we could still be the Super Bowl champions, but we know that's not going to happen," Holmes said.
Analysis: Holmes was in South Florida for part of Super Bowl week, attending some Reebok events and mingling with other NFL players. But by game time Sunday, he was long gone, saying he wanted to only watch on television instead. "I am not playing,'' Holmes said, ``so I will not be there in attendance." |
